My name is Debra Lewis, and I am a Licened Professional Counselor Supervisor. I received my Bachelor of Arts from Southern Methodist University, and my Master of Science in Counseling from Texas A&M Commerce. In addition to working with clients, I am also a trained supervisor for Licensed Professional Counselor Associates. My career started as a crisis worker treating the seriously mentally ill in association with local and state psychiatric hospitals. Working with the judges and district attorneys in the judicial system and medical establishment, I provided assessments and evaluations to determine the best level of care for clients in crisis and helped procure treatment for them. I worked as a therapist in inpatient as well as outpatient settings for clients with alcohol and drug addictions, treating both the client and their families. Many addictions are secondary to the untreated mental health issues of those seeking help. Along with treating individuals and families, I have provided group and couples counseling in both residential inpatient and outpatient settings. I have worked alongside FEMA representatives during community crisis events.

Currently, I work with ages 17 and older. In my practice, I pull from multiple modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, EMDR, Motivational Interviewing and Mindfulness. Throughout my career, I have developed an interest in and speciality for working with the following populations: individual therapies for men, women, and couples (with Issues ranging from relationship problems, marriage, divorce, breakups, infidelities, to moving forward after a loss), grief, life transitions, anxiety, depression, LGBTQ+ related issues, early childhood abuse and neglect, domestic violence, personality disorders, PTSD, self-confidence, and self-esteem issues.

I am acutely aware of how hard it is to seek help when you are feeling vulnerable. I believe my job is to lend you the ego strength you need to develop the internal resources to solve your own problems. I want you to leave knowing you are the master of your fate and that you have what you need to go forward confidently into your amazing life.
