psychological services

Dallas Therapeutic Services is pleased to provide high-quality psychological testing services. Psychological testing is a method of gathering and analyzing individualized data to better understand an individual’s personality, including diagnostic criteria and how the brain functions across various tasks like attention and problem-solving.

DTS currently offers the following testing services:

  • Autism Testing

  • Cognitive and Learning Testing

  • Diagnostic Testing

  • IQ Testing

  • Nexus Letter Evaluations

Testing typically involves meeting with one of our trained clinicians for an in-depth interview and completion of assessments. Once all of the data is analyzed, you may meet with the clinician again to review your results, discuss how to use this information to guide the next steps in your treatment, and receive referrals for further care if needed.

Disclaimer: If you’re unsure which type of evaluation is best suited to your needs, we offer brief prescreening measures that are completed prior to testing and personally reviewed by our licensed psychologist, Dr. Clicque. Based on your responses and presenting concerns, she will provide guidance on the most appropriate and clinically useful assessment path.

  • We specialize in assessing Autism Spectrum Disorder across the lifespan. Our evaluations consider early developmental history, current social communication patterns, sensory processing, and adaptive functioning. By integrating observational measures with parent/caregiver input and self-report tools (when appropriate), we strive to provide a comprehensive and nuanced understanding of each individual. These evaluations are helpful for families seeking school accommodations, adult diagnostic clarification, or guidance through life transitions.

  • Our diagnostic evaluations help identify underlying mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma-related disorders, or other psychological conditions. These evaluations incorporate a variety of standardized tools that examine emotional, behavioral, attentional, and cognitive functioning. Whether you're seeking diagnostic clarity for therapy, medication management, or personal insight, we offer thorough and compassionate assessments to support your journey.

  • We understand that some individuals may present with overlapping symptoms of autism, ADHD, anxiety, trauma, and other mental health concerns—making it difficult to know where to begin. In these cases, we offer a Combined Autism + Diagnostic Evaluation as a streamlined option. This option is not available for individuals under the age of 7 years.

This combined battery includes a curated selection of both autism and diagnostic measures and is designed to address multiple areas of concern while staying within insurance constraints. However, this approach reduces the depth and breadth of both individual evaluations to fit within what most insurance plans allow in terms of time and billing codes.

     Important Consideration:
This evaluation does not include the full scope of either a comprehensive autism assessment or a complete diagnostic evaluation. It is best reserved for cases where:

    • There is significant uncertainty about which condition is most relevant

    • A general diagnostic impression is acceptable for treatment planning or short-term clarification

If you already have a strong reason to suspect autism or are primarily seeking clarity around mental health or ADHD-related concerns, we strongly recommend selecting a full version of that evaluation. Each condition is complex and deserves a thorough, accurate assessment when possible.

Our goal is to guide you toward the path that provides the most clinically useful answers, and we are happy to help determine which format is the best fit for your needs. If you're unsure which evaluation is best for your needs, we offer brief prescreening measures prior to testing. These are reviewed by Dr. Clicque, who will guide you toward the most clinically appropriate and useful assessment path based on your responses and presenting concerns.

  • IQ testing is completed in the office. One of our trained clinicians meets with you to administer a series of tests measuring four specific domains of intelligence: verbal comprehension, perceptual reasoning, working memory, and processing speed. An overall IQ score is also provided. IQ testing takes about 2 hours.

  • The primary goal of cognitive and learning disorders psychological testing is to diagnose learning disabilities, which are neurologically-based processing problems that can interfere with learning basic skills such as reading, writing, or math. Additionally, these tests can help identify underlying cognitive and psychological issues that may contribute to learning difficulties.

    Components:

We do not accept insurance for IQ or Cognitive/Learning Disorder testing. Because IQ testing alone is typically not associated with a specific medical or psychological diagnosis, it often does not meet medical necessity criteria for reimbursement required by most insurance providers. While IQ testing can provide valuable insights into cognitive abilities, it is generally considered an elective service. While Learning Disorders do have a diagnosis associated with them, insurance typically does not cover the cost of testing for these. We will check benefit eligibility, but coverage is not expected or guaranteed, in which case the client is financially responsible.
