Cristen cooper, lpc

Cristen Cooper is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Louisiana State University in 2020 and her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Texas at Dallas in 2024.

Cristen's professional experience includes working in an inpatient psychiatric hospital, where she provided care to individuals across a wide range of ages and mental health diagnoses. She has also worked in an inpatient clinical research facility involved in evaluating medications seeking FDA approval for the treatment of various mental health conditions. More recently, Cristen has worked in private practice, supporting individuals navigating a variety of mental health concerns and life challenges. Her diverse clinical experiences have strengthened her ability to understand complex mental health needs and provide individualized, compassionate care.

Known for her direct and adaptable approach, Cristen believes in challenging clients to examine their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors while providing a supportive and nonjudgmental environment. She recognizes that each client has unique needs and adjusts her therapeutic style accordingly, incorporating both structured, goal-oriented sessions and more open-ended exploration. When appropriate, she also provides articles, worksheets, and other resources to encourage continued growth outside of therapy.

Cristen utilizes evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She works with adolescents and adults navigating a variety of concerns, including anxiety, depression, eating disorders, grief, trauma, and significant life transitions.

Cristen strongly believes that individuals often possess more power and control over their lives than they recognize, particularly when mental health challenges make those strengths difficult to see. She strives to provide a safe space where clients can openly explore their experiences, recognize their capabilities, and develop the confidence and skills necessary to create meaningful change.

Outside of her clinical work, Cristen is an enthusiastic LSU fan (Geaux Tigers!), an avid true crime listener, and a fan of horror and thriller movies.
